Chorew – Versuch über Jisraels Pflichten in der Zerstreuung, ein Werk über die heute aktuellen Geboten und ihrem philosophischen Hintergrund
Rabbiner Samson Raphael Hirsch ordnet die Mizwot, die heute noch ausgeübt werden können, und gibt ihnen seinen besonderen philosophischen Hintergrund. Er gewann die jüdische Jugend zurück in dem er sie in die grundlegende Gedanken der Gesetze der Tora einführte. Rabbiner Hirsch zeigte ihnen, dass die religiösen Gebote der Tora, oder Mizwot, nicht bloss „Zeremonien“ sind, die einfach abgelegt werden können, sondern es sich hierbei um göttliche Gesetzte handelt vom Gottes Volkes. Diese Gebote sind unsterblich und unantastbar. Sie sind religiöse „Kraftwerke“, welche einen heiligen Geist unter dem Volk Israel erzeugen.
Samson Raphael Hirsch (1808 – 1888), der in Deutschland lebte und wirkte, war einer der bedeutendsten jüdischen Persönlichkeiten seiner Zeit. Seine spezielle jüdische Weltanschauung wird auch heute auf der ganzen Welt gelehrt und gelebt. Er war ein Erneuerer, sah aber trotzdem die Autorität der Halacha als absolut an. Sein erzieherisches Ideal war “Tora im Derech Erez‘“. Danach war der ideale Jude, seiner Meinung nach ein aufgeklärter Jude, der die Gebote hält.

Ich habe das Buch als ein am Judentum interessierter Nicht-Jude im 3er-Set (Chorew, Psalmen und Siddur) gekauft. Was mich besonders beeindruckt hat, sind neben der Systematik, Klarheit und Tiefe, mit der hier die Gebote erläutert werden, die psychologische Dimension, die immer wieder in den Texten durchscheint, und Hirsch als Menschenkenner und Menschenfreund auszeichnen.
