Chumasch Rasch Wajikra, der dritte Band des absoluten Klassiker des jüdischen Denkens. Das Lernen der Tora wurde beinahe schon per Definition zu einem Studium davon.
Im vorliegenden Werk beginnt die Seite mit dem Chumasch-Text, dem Bibeltext und der deutschen Übersetzung. Darunter finden wir den Targum Onkelos, die klassische aramäische Ausdeutung des Chumaschtexts. Anschliessend folgt der Raschi-Text in der klassischen Raschi-Schrift. Darunter haben wir Raschis Kommentar nochmals in quadratischer Schrift mit einer überarbeiteten Übersetzung von Rabbiner Dr. Selig Bamberger (1872- 1936) abgedruckt. Damit Raschi wirklich von jemandem gelernt werden kann und nicht nur die Übersetzung gelesen wird, haben wir erstmalig diese Übersetzung geradezu in den hebräischen Text eingewoben. Als Fussnoten findet der interessierte Leser die insbesondere im englischen Sprachraum bekannten Erläuterungen zu Raschis Kommentar von Rabbiner A. M. Silbermann und Rev. M. Rosenbaum.
Raschi ist die Abkürzung für Rabbi Schlomo Ben Izchak, der populärste Bibel- und Talmud Erklärer. Er wurde 1040 in Troyes geboren und verstarb auch dort 65 Jahre später im Jahre 1105. Raschi studierte in Worms. Raschi heiratete sehr früh und gründete mit gerade mal 25 Jahren in Troys eine Jeschiwa. Seine Jeschiwa wurde schnell berühmt und es fehlte nicht an Schülern. Er lebte nicht von seiner Arbeit an der Jeschiwa, sondern verdiente sich sein Geld durch die Landwirtschaft und den Weinbau und Handel.
Raschi hat fast die ganze Bibel kommentiert und ebenfalls fast vollständig den Talmud. Bei seinen Bibelerklärungen unterscheidet er noch nicht klar zwischen Pschat (Wortsinn) und Drasch (Auslegung). Er bleibt aber im Allgemeinem dem Pschat (Wortsinn) relativ treu. Philosophische und kritische Bedenken berücksichtigt er nicht. Er hat 3000 hebräische Wörter ins Französisch übersetzt. Dies ist eine wahre Fundgrube auch für das altfranzösische Lexikon.
