Sefer Hamada – Das Buch des Wissens ist der erste Band des Grundlagenwerkes von Rabbi Moshe ben Maimon „Maimonides“.  Es behandelt Gebote, die die Grundprinzipien der jüdischen Religion, die man von Anfang an kennen muss und das Verbot des Götzendienstes. Und gerade der erste Band der Mischne Tora von Maimonides ist ein Grundlagenwerk der jüdischen Philosophie und Halacha (jüdisches Gesetz). Und darum ist  die Mischne Tora eine umfassende, streng logisch gegliederte Sammlung jüdischer Gesetze des Maimonides. Sie wurde von 1170 bis 1180 geschaffen, als Maimonides in Ägypten war. Das Werk ist in vierzehn Bände unterteilt.

Hier erklärt der grosse Gesetzeslehrer in leicht verständlicher Sprache die Grundlagen des Judentums, der jüdischen Lebensführung, die Anerkennung der Einheit des Heiligen.  Was ist Götzendienst? Wie studiert man die jüdische Lehre und die Gesetze der Rückkehr zu Gott?

Ein Klassiker der jüdischen Philosophie in punktiertem Hebräisch mit deutscher Übersetzung.

Moses Maimonides geboren zwischen 1135 und 1138 in Cordoba, gestorben am 13. Dezember 1204 in Kairo. Er war ein jüdischer Philosoph, Rechtsgelehrter und Arzt, der vor allem in Spanien und Ägypten wirkte. Bis heute ist er das geistige Oberhaupt der jemenitischen Juden. Er gilt als bedeutender Gelehrter des Mittelalters. Nach der Eroberung von Cordoba durch die Almohaden,m welche alle Bewohner zur Annahme des Islams zwangen, wanderten sie nach Marokko aus. Auch hier waren die Juden gezwungen sich zum Islam zu bekenne. 1160 erliess Maimon ein Mahnschreiben in arabischer Sprach an die jüdische Gemeinden, in dem er zum Ausharren und zur weiteren Ausübung der jüdischen Bräuche ermahnte.
