Nevi’im Rischonim – Melachim I und II Die vorliegende Ausgabe der Nevi’im Rischonim  Melachim I und II, der Könige I und II der frühen Porpheten  ist der 3. Band des traditonellen deutsch-orthodoxer Kommentares der Newiim Rischonim. Diese sind ganz im Stil seines Vorbildes Rabbiner Samson Raphael Hirsch verfasst.

Rabbiner Benedikt Pinchas Wolf wurde am 1. März 1875 in Köln geboren und starb mit 93 am 27 August 1968 in Petach Tikwa, Israel. Er war der Sohn von Josef Zeew Wolf, dem Leiter der Kölner Talmud Tora- Schule und Schüler von Selig Aviëzri Auerbach in Halberstadt, dessen Tochter Hindel er später heiratete.

Nach seinem Studium an der Universität in Berlin erhielt er seine Semicha, Rabbinerpromovierung 1897 in Erlangen.  Von 1899-1900 war er Lehrer an der Samson-Raphael-Hirsch-Schule in Frankfurt a. Main. Die Schule vermittelte ihren Schülern sowohl traditionelle jüdische Werte als auch eine weltliche Bildung, wodurch sie Modellcharakter für moderne orthodoxe jüdische Schulen erlangte.

Danach erhielt er eine Anstellung von 1900 bis 1936  in Köln beim „Verein zur Förderung des Studiums des jüdischen Religionsgesetzes. Chewrah Talmud Tora“. Zur gleichen Zeit amtierte Rabbiner Wolf als Rabbiner einer streng orthodoxen Gemeinde in Essen-Kettwig, die sich ihm, obschon er in Köln amtierte, zu Beginn des 20. Jh. angeschlossen hatte. Er war also Leiter der Talmud- Tora-Schule und des „Vereins für die jüdischen Interessen des Rheinlands e. V.“ und gleichzeitig noch Revisor aller öffentlichen und privaten Volksschulen von Gemeinden, die dem Verein angehörten.

1919 war er Mitbegründer und Kuratoriumsvorsitzender des „Jawne“-Realgymnasium, Köln. Zwischenzeitlich übernahm er zusätzlich die religiöse und seelsorgerliche Betreuung der westfälischen Gemeinden, die dem Verein zur Wahrung der religiösen Interessen für die Provinz Westfalen mit Sitz in Recklinghausen angeschlossen waren.

Die Vorzeichen der Naziherschafft deutet Rabbiner Wolf ganz klar und dies führte 1936 zur Emigration nach Palästina.
